Following a review of bin charges by the Conservative run City Council, the £28 charge for new bins has been retained. At a full Council meeting today the Liberal Democrats put forward a proposal to scrap all bin charges for residents on benefits. 

Commenting Mark Jewell said, “This charge is a stealth tax on our bins.”

Cllr Gallagher, leader of the Preston LibDems added, “We would like to see this charge scrapped altogether. However, Labour have left us in such a mess we need to identify where the money will come from in our budget proposals.”
