Ashton Park is the latest of Preston’s Parks to receive the prestigious Green Flag Award.
County Councillor Mark Jewell said, “After narrowly missing out last year this is great news.
“The Friends of Ashton Park and Park Rangers have worked towards this award over a number of years. They have also managed to involve the local community with the park.”
The Friends of Haslam Park have also received a Green Pennant Award for the sensory garden which the Friends Group designed, built and now maintain.
County Councillor Mark Jewell added, “Our Parks are one of Preston’s greatest assets.”
The Friends Group on Ashton Park normally meet on the first Monday of the month from 10am at the Bowling Green.
The Friends of Haslam Park normally meet on the first Wednesday of the month from 2pm at the Rangers Office.
